ViewSonic has made tentative steps into the PC arena with a new All-in-One PC, which while it does offer Windows XP, it only has 160GB hard drive and 1GB of memory – however it is a slim unit.
The company says its VPC100 All-in-One PC is aimed at the home and small business market, but where it might have it over others (and we don't know because we have yet to sight the unit), is that ViewSonic has the best part of 20 years in the monitor market, so the screen should leave others for dead.
Presenting a 19-inch (18.5-inch viewable) LCD display, the unit has packed in its petite 35mm profile an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive and Microsoft Windows XP Home, as well as connectivity through wireless WiFi 802.11b/g or hardwired LAN networking.
Files can be transferred or shared through the 4 x USB 2.0 ports or 4-in-1 card reader.
ViewSonic claims users save on energy with up to 50 percent less energy consumed, as well as acquiring 50 percent less plastic in comparison to purchasing a PC and display separately.
